Cloud9 has officially announced that they will be disbanding their Danish Dota 2 roster.
Their disbandment comes three days before the end of the roster shuffle period after the Kiev Major, and while most would be surprised by the news one could argue that this could be seen coming after a streak of disappointing results from the players. The roster started life as Cloud9, who returned to the Dota 2 scene after a year of hiatus in January, announced that they were picking up the Imperial and former Danish Bears roster.
On the outset, they were described by Cloud9 CEO Jack Etienne as, “young talent that I believe, if supported correctly, can establish themselves as a solid team.”But to the dismay many the Danes were never able to do so and have failed to have any mark on the international level, with their biggest achievement being a second-place finish at the World Electronic Sports Games.
The dissolved team were as follows:
- Marcus “Ace” Hoelgaard
- Jon “13abyKnight” Andersen
- Mikki “HeStEJoE-RoTTeN” Mørch Junget
- Danny “NoiA” Mørch Junget
- Christoffer “Ryze” Borregaard Winther
