Asgardia Proposed Space-Based Nation Accepting Citizenship

The Asgardia , officially known as the Space Kingdom of Asgardia is a proposal for nation announced on October 12, 2016 by Dr. Igor Ashurbeyli,
the founder of the Aerospace International Research Centre and Chairman of UNESCO’s Science of Space CommitteeThe proposed nation intends to promote peace and collaboration as mankind expands into outer space and ultimately aims to be recognised as a nation state.
The draft constitution declares Asgardia to be a Constitutional Monarchy with Dr. Igor Ashurbeyli the first Head of State.
The draft constitution permits Asgardia to create laws that are legally binding on its citizens.

On the website of Asgardia people were invited to register for “citizenship” with the aim of applying to the United Nations for recognition as a nation state.

Space was launched on October 12, 2016,
and over 100,000 people applied in next 40 hours after announcement and over 500,000 in first 20 days.
On October 31, 2016, initial registration was put on hold and Dr. Ashurbeyli addressed registered Asgardians asking to verify their identity and vote for his current position as the Head of Nation enabling him to represent Asgardia in all necessary ways to achieve its statehood.
After the second level of verification, the number of Asgardians had reduced and now the site counter is showing the total amount of verified Asgardians only.-justplay

On December 20, 2016, an official Asgardian forum was created.
An announcement on the Asgardian website stated that the forum is being staffed by volunteers,
who formerly ran the official Asgardia Facebook groups.
This effort is being assisted by a volunteer group known as Civic Asgardia,

which is aiding in moderating the forum and official Asgardia Facebook pages,
project development and manpower structure.

On January 21, 2017, after more than 150,000 people have expressed their support,
Igor Ashurbeyli was officially announced as a Head of Nation by Decree 1.
